Home to one of Cincinnati's most prized possessions - the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens - Avondale is a shining example of what makes Cincinnati distinct from other cities of similar size.

You'll find more than just lions and tigers and bears (oh my!) at the Cincinnati Zoo. Saltwater aquariums, the world's first insectarium and the $1.6 million Cat House are only a few of the attractions that make this zoo one of the finest worldwide.

Smack dab in the middle of the city, Avondale is centrally located between I-71 and I-75 - Cincinnati's major Interstate arteries. Downtown entertainment, stores and restaurants are easily accessible. Avondale is also home to the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati.

Avondale offers spacious single- and two-family homes in a wide range of styles from sturdy brick houses to beautiful Gothic Tudors, some featuring Rookwood tile work. Lighted sidewalks and tree-lined streets add character to this neighborhood, infused with a blend of older and newer housing styles.

If there is one drawback to living in Avondale, it must be deciding which park to go to. Avondale has got more parks than a Bengal tiger has stripes! Slides, swings, and tennis and basketball courts are sure to keep the little ones busy. And you'll definitely find plenty of little ones here in Avondale, a neighborhood that many families call home. Read on, and maybe you will, too.

With the number of residents quickly approaching 20,000, Avondale is one of Cincinnati's most populous neighborhoods. It is also home to a large number of families and households with children.
