this neighborhood

The city of Cincinnati collectively refers to Clifton Heights, University Heights and Fairview as the CUF neighborhood.

If the vitality and buzz of a college campus appeals to you, then this is your neighborhood.

If you need something, this is the place to find it. Bookstores, coffee shops, spiritual centers of numerous denominations and interests, fast food joints and quaint sit-down places surrounded by enough green space to make a Frisbee thrower weak in the knees.

Though you would expect the neighborhood to be dominated by college students, that's not totally the case. There are a large number of singles, families, university faculty members, and others who live in C.U.F. and enjoy the shopping, transportation conveniences, character and high-levels of activity that the University of Cincinnati attracts to the neighborhood.

CUF is a neighborhood of 17,500 residents, almost half of whom are single. CUF is a young neighborhood, with the largest group of residents falling into the 18 to 35 age group.

Basketball tends to dominate the sports scene at UC, with the Bearcats often nationally ranked in the Top 20. UC plays at the 13,000-seat Shoemaker Center, and tickets for the games are often difficult to find. In order to purchase season basketball tickets, you must also buy season football tickets to boost support for the football program. With UC football entering a post-season bowl game in 1997, that policy has turned out to be a pretty good deal.
