Symphony musicians, politicians, a Broadway producer, artists, dancers, composers, conductors, professors, doctors and lawyers all make their homes in North Avondale. Beautiful turn-of-the-century homes, a rich history and closeness to downtown via either I-71 or I-75 are only a few of the reasons that young families move into North Avondale, and stay even after the kids have moved out and gone away to college.


An active neighborhood association plays an important role in zoning regulations and has been successful at maintaining most of the homes as single-family residences. There are many nationally recognized education programs either in North Avondale or in nearby neighborhoods. North Avondale Montessori and Walnut Hills High School are Cincinnati Public Schools that receive frequent national recognition. North Avondale is also home to the city's first integrated private swim club, and it's a neighborhood that prides itself on building and maintaining a strong sense of community among neighbors.

 
The neighborhood demographics of North Avondale and Paddock Hills have been grouped together for statistical purposes. These communities cover an area of 1.29 square miles. The neighborhoods have balanced populations of singles, couples and families, and more than 50% of these residents are 18 to 35 years of age.

Turn-of-the-century homes and gas-lit winding streets provide North Avondale with historic character. Contemporary styles are interspersed among the majority of North Avondale's homes built between 1900 and 1940. Wrought iron and white picket fences encircle finely maintained yards on many of this neighborhood's streets. Owner occupancy in this area is 49%. (Home sales statistics include Avondale and North Avondale.)
