As its name suggests, the West End is located directly
to the west of Downtown - the Central Business District. The townhouses
and brownstones of the West End's Dayton Street were home to Cincinnati's
first millionaires. Today, efforts are underway to expand homeownership
opportunities for both singles and families in this growing neighborhood.
During the past few years, the City of Cincinnati developed Longworth
Square and supported the efforts of CiTiRAMA to construct townhouses
and single-families within the West End. These newly built homes in
the latest contemporary styles provide the features sought by new
home buyers and the historic flavor and conveniences of living downtown.

The neighborhood's most widely recognized
architectural and cultural feature is the art deco Museum Center
at Union Terminal. Originally constructed as Union Terminal in 1933,
the refurbished train station was renovated and reopened as the
Museum Center in 1990. The facility now houses the Cincinnati History
Museum, the Cinergy Children's Museum, the Museum of Natural History
and Science, the Robert D. Lindner Family OmniMax Theater, and the
Cincinnati Historical Society Library.

There
are also many frame houses, some of which lend themselves to restoration
and renovation projects. With apartments in great supply, the 5,000
housing units of the West End have an owner-occupancy rate of less
than 7%.
Housing Sales statistics are unavailable for the West End.
